The world had grown quiet, as though it were holding its breath.

In the stillness stood two figures, side by side, bathed in light that did not come from sun or flame but from something deeper and eternal. Mary stood on the left, her hands gently folded in prayer, her posture calm and unwavering. There was no fear in her face, only a steady peace that seemed to flow outward from her heart. Around her head shimmered a crown of light, intricate and radiant, formed of gold and color woven together like a hymn made visible.

Her robes glowed with layered patterns, each one alive with meaning. Gold traced every curve, catching the light and reflecting it back into the world. It was as though she were wrapped in prayer itself, clothed in devotion and trust. Her eyes, soft and attentive, looked not inward but outward, toward the world she carried in her heart.

Beside her stood an angel.

The angel’s presence was strong and still, filled with quiet authority. Like Mary, the angel’s hands were clasped in prayer, mirroring her devotion. Their face was darker, deep with wisdom and resolve, eyes steady with purpose. Gold shimmered across their form as well, weaving through their garments and halo, binding them to the same divine light that surrounded Mary.

Between them, above their bowed heads, a great star blazed.

It was not harsh or blinding, but warm and alive, its rays stretching outward in every direction. The light seemed to pulse gently, as though it carried a heartbeat of its own. From it flowed peace, hope, and a promise that prayer does not vanish unheard. The star’s glow touched both figures equally, uniting them in purpose and presence.

Around them, the world unfolded in color and motion.

Patterns rippled outward like echoes of prayer, filling the space with reds, blues, greens, and golds. Shapes bloomed and intertwined, floral and abstract, as though creation itself had joined in their act of devotion. Nothing stood still. Everything shimmered with life, as if the very air were infused with grace.

And beneath it all, written quietly but with great power, were the words that anchored the moment:

Thanks be to God.

They were not a declaration of triumph, nor a cry for help, but a prayer of trust. A recognition that even in uncertainty, even in struggle, gratitude remains a form of faith. Mary and the angel did not plead. They offered thanks. They stood as witnesses to the belief that peace begins not with noise or force, but with reverence and surrender.

In their silence, the world was held.

In their prayer, hope was renewed.

And in the golden light that surrounded them, the message remained clear for all who looked upon them: that gratitude itself is a form of prayer, and that through prayer, the world is gently, faithfully held in the hands of God.

THANKS BE TO GOD
